The Architecture of Digital Escape Places

Dear cyber-travelers. Since the last post, I've taken the time to leave the groundwork I laid for myself and expand into different texts, thoughts, and other works that broaden my vision of my concept. While I'm still in the middle of not only reaching inward for new stimulation but also expanding outward in the already existing landscape of cyber philosophy, and will  mostly be talking about a single book and the references it provided,  I'd still like to share an update of sorts. I'm at the edge of a very daunting world, even parts excited and scared to explore. The importance of the physical I think one of the biggest changes in my way of thinking about the themes I want to dissect regarding the audiovisual work, is the separation I saw between the real and the digital. In an ever-evolving digital world, I want to escape it more than ever. And not by running away from it, but rather into it. I grew up with the internet and came of age in digital spaces and landscapes. These landscapes can take many forms, like a never-ending feed in which we doom scroll and spiral into, or more constructed 3D rooms like in games. We dissolve ourselves into these environments, escaping the burden of the physical world.  But it's the almost graspable atmosphere, the melancholic sensation, and the strange liminality these spaces convey that I'm interested in. A world made out of numbers we sometimes call home. Usually, these spaces are created to fill them up with content, but then you still have the architecture of these landscapes, the barren fields and empty walls are still there, if the player chooses to look at them.
